Scorched, burnt from the desert heat

Baking from the sun

Hot, plain-old bone dry

Scattered plants, less water, none

Dry, hot, deathly heat

Too much talk of that

Too much talk of the scorched things

Need more ice, cold, frost

Pica Pica bird

Fledged Eurasian Magpie thief

Stealing jewelry

Purloin a cricket

Flutters multicolored wings

Long majestic tail

Glinting in harsh sun

Steals a nickel from dry earth

Nickel disappears
