Music!

Hallo!  Heartsstarssmiles again!  Music is a big part of life!  We can't possibly live without it.  So, I was just looking at the charts and I saw many songs that It Is Unknown and I love to sing on our own, with each other, and with everyone!  Oh, and here's a haiku:

Music is our life!
Our heart, our soul, we live and
Breathe our fave pastime!

I love music (as you can tell from some of our earlier posts)! =D

Crossword Puzzles!

Heyo!  It's heartsstarssmiles here!  My dad and I worked on a couple of crossword puzzles today.  I love crossword puzzles!  It's fun to decipher the clues and use the words we know to decipher the other clues!  Here's a haiku about crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles:

Detective work, just
Bring your best, erase mistakes,
Put it together!

So, when you find time, why don't you try a few? =D

The End of the World, Year 79

Hola!  'Tis heartsstarssmiles!  You know the whole apocalypse theory that proved to be fake?  Well, a long time ago, in ancient Pompeii, the end seemed near.  And it was...for them.

Pompeii is located near Mt. Vesuvius, a dangerous stratovolcano/composite volcano.  On August 24, 79, Mt. Vesuvius erupted!  Volcanic ash and pumice stones stacked up over the next 18 hours, killing most of the 20,000 citizens and burying Pompeii under 14 to 17 feet of ash.  Uncovering the city makes it seem like we're traveling back in time.

A survivor named Pliny the Younger wrote a lot about this eruption.  In fact, most of what we know about this catastrophe comes from his accounts.  According to him, people futilely shielded themselves and others prepared to die.  The only way out was by boat, but not everybody got to one.  Despite the torches and other lights, it was the darkest night ever.  That was the end of their days.

But some survived!  Not every Pompeii citizen breathed their last that day and year!  For more information click here and for Pliny the Younger's letter, click here. =D

Christmas Lights!

Bonjour!  Heartsstarssmiles here, after taking down the Christmas tree!  The lights are down, so I decided to write a few six word stories about them:

  • Christmas lights guide your way there.
  • Lighting up the tree, your spirit.
  • During the season of giving, happiness.
  • Take them down, bring them back.
Have any of your own short stories?  Share them with us! =D

Au revoir,

Reading!

Cheers!  It's heartsstarssmiles!  I LOVE reading!  I love being whisked off to an imaginary world, live a different life, and learn a ton of things I didn't know!  That started my passion for writing, but I'll write about that another time!  So, here's a haiku:

Different places,
Witchcraft, Hollywood, travel...
It's my cup of tea!

Reading is so much fun! =D
Ciao,

Heya!  It's heartsstarssmiles!  I live in a wonderful place where it's hot in summer and cold in winter!  However, today, it was warm, so we had ice cream!  Ya, ice cream in the middle of winter!  Isn't life pleasantly strange?  I love ice cream!  Here's a haiku:

Chocolate, vanilla,
Many, many more to go!
We love you, ice cream!

My Inner Child!

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!  Hearsstarssmiles here!  I've come back from a Christmas party!  I was the oldest one of the "under 18s" there, but I love little kids!  They're so full of life, interesting, and funny!  Of course, it's not restricted to that.  Sometimes, it's fun to be a little kid again!  Kids, cherish your youth!  It Is Unknown and I sometimes act like we're two of the little ones again (Remember from our "About Us" I told you we have a ton of acts? Yeah, "little kid" is one of them.).  I had so much fun! =D

What does it look like to you?

Now isn't this pretty? To me, it kind of looks like some kind of sculpture from an ancient civilization. What does it look like to you?
To me, this looks like two aliens facing backward, looking at each other.

To me, this looks like a superhero.

What do they look like to you?

2 to the power of 50!

G'day mates!  A few weeks ago, in Math, our teacher told us that you can't fold a regular piece of paper more than seven times physically, but mentally, we can fold it infinitely many times!  She wanted to know how we would find the number of layers the paper would have if we folded it 50 times.  To do this, you raise 2 to the power of 50.  It's a big number!  You do the math.  I doubt that your calculator can display the full number!  See ya! =D

Character Names

Me and heartsstarssmiles do this whenever we have to think of a character name for our story, and we can't agree on one. I choose a letter, and then heartsstarssmiles will choose another, and over and over again. Of course, sometimes our letter choices are narrowed down because we need vowels in the name, but it works. This is how we came up with the name Sutnee, Deja, and Qui-Zee...

FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!!

The Next Apocolypse

You might be saying "Phew! No more doomsday for 2012! We've survived! I won't be alive when the world ends!" Ah-hem, not quite. If you're the type that lives in fear of all the dates the world is predicted to end, you'll be living in fear for a long, long time. Sorry about that.

The next time the world is supposed to end is May 19th, 2013. What a shame. O, and if that apocalypse fails, there's supposed to be another doomsday in 2020. Then 2021, then again in 2029. Then sometime in the 21st century. The list goes on and on. Will we ever get a break?

I got this information here. So, please, visit this Wikipedia page.

Word Game!

Okay, I have word game here. It's called "Word Game!" I consists of a word, and a human (maybe paper and pen).

1. Choose a word.

2. Find words out of the letters in the word. (Find at least 5), (No need to pluralize words with 's's' in the word.)) You can find letters next to each other that make a word, or just create words from the letters

3. Create a sentence using the words you found.

Here, I'll try.

Word: Christmas
Words: Mast, Christmas, Star, Cart, Car
Amount: Sentence
Sentence: She climbed up the mast to look at the cart shaped like a star in a cart on Christmas morning.

Oxymorons!

Hellohellohellololo!  Hearsstarssmiles here!  It's Christmas where I live, although for some of you it's already Kwanzaa!  So, I wanted to share some oxymorons with you!

When a friend told me about oxymorons, I fell in love!  I, personally, like paradoxes more, but oxymorons are still good!  Here are some for you (For more, click here and here and here):

  • deafening silence
  • bitter sweet
  • true lies
  • cruel kindness
  • living dead
  • dark light

Paradoxes!

Merry Christmas!  It's heartsstarssmiles, one of Santa's taller elves!  Here's a present for y'all!

I don't know why, but a month ago (I think), I developed a love for paradoxes, when I discovered one.  So, I decided to make a small list of them for you! You're welcome!  (For more, click here.)

  • It's opposite day!  But if you say it's opposite day on opposite day, is it really opposite day?
  • This statement is a lie.
  • Is the answer to this question "no"?
  • Plato, guarding a bridge, says to Socrates, "If your next statement is true, you may cross.  However, if your next statement is false, I will throw you into the water."  Socrates says, "You will throw me into the water."
  • There is an exception to every rule, including the rule of exception, for which the exception is that there is no exception.
  • You need moderation in all things.  Does this include moderation?
  • A male barber shaves only all the men who don't shave themselves.  Does he shave himself?
  • Don't listen to me.
  • Your mission is to not accept this mission.  Do you accept? (Source: My Babysitter's a Vampire)

Yeah, paradoxes are so much fun!  So, I wish you a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year!  Oops, I got it mixed up!  Oh, well, it's the same thing! Okay, okay, I'll fix it!  I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  There! =D

Happy Holidays,
heartsstarssmiles

PS-Happy Belated Hanukkah!

Interesting Graffiti!

Yello!  It's heartsstarssmiles again!  Long time, no see!  My family went to San Francisco today! It was so much fun!  I saw this dome-shaped structure near the Point Bonita Lighthouse that had graffiti on it.  Normally, I'm not a big fan of graffiti, but this graffiti was...out of the ordinary!  Check it out:

"The opposite of war isn't peace...it's creation."
"You cannot find peace by avoiding us."
(Sorry I didn't capture the last one) "To live in the hearts of those you love is to never die."

Be inspired,
heartsstarssmiles =D

Paradise

Ciara's portrait is at the bottom of this post. You see the pronunciation of her name under her portrait. I feel like writing a super short story about her, so here goes.

Ciara sat on the damp sand, brushing her honey colored hair. She swished her toes in the water in front of her. She was sitting on a shore of Paradise. Paradise was an island in the middle of Nowhere. It had warm waters, and green grasses. Everyone was happy in Paradise. Paradise was often mistaken for Hawaii, but they were much different. If you look for Paradise, you will never arrive there. You can only travel unintentionally there in your sleep. You can only leave in your sleep. Paradise was perfect.

THE END.
Maybe I'll continue this story later. Maybe.

O, great. I just dropped Ciara. She's smooshed. Sad face.

Catch ya later!

Writers Block

I have a few words on writers block. Okay, fine, not few, more like many, but close enough. You see, I have a pretty serious case of writers block. In the novel I'm currently writing, I had a period of a few chapters that I wrote amazingly well. Like, so well I can't replicate it. It's so annoying. Do you know what's funny? I write better in the dark after reading an excerpt from one of my favorite novels. I'm not copying the book, it just really inspires me. (I have no idea why the dark helps, it's just one weird habit.) I used to stay up way past my bedtime writing. I was so happy back then. I try this thing occasionally, the thing that helps me write, but my writing's never as good as it used to be. It makes me tear up. Hmm, maybe I should reread my favorite book again. If I recall correctly, that's what I did before I started to write amazingly well.

I'm such a detective.

Until we meet again,
It is Unknown

Did the Mayans predict the world's end?

Heeeeeeelp!  Oh, I'm safe!  The world has not ceased to exist!  Wait...what? But didn't the Mayans...

Heartsstarssmiles here!  The 2012 apocalypse was a fun, interesting debate! Will the world end on 12/12/12 or 12/21/12 (12/21/12 or 21/12/21, fyi)?  How did the Mayans predict the world's end?  Will the world really end?  Some of you shrugged it off as a myth, but there was that 1% of 1% of a doubt.  I like to say that the apocalypse was exaggerated, with large earthquakes and Hurricane Sandy.

The day the world was supposed to end (December 21), some were nervous, waiting for the end of the world.  Even some news people predicted that the temperature would be 12,000°F (6648.9°C), due to the sun's explosion!

Now, it's over.  Many think that the Mayans incorrectly predicted the world's end...but that's not true.  You see, the Mayans were a very advanced civilization.  (Read about it here: http://voices.yahoo.com/inca-maya-aztec-empire-achievments-359085.html)  They created a ton of calendars.  Their last one ended on December 21, 2012.  However, the civilization died before they could create any more.  Although 2012 is a good movie (in my opinion), it can't and won't happen.

What's your favorite doomsday movie, now that we know that we'll live on? =D

Stay strong,
heartsstarssmiles

Aliens!

Greetings, Earthlings!  I come in peace!  I'm from the planet—okay, you caught me!  I'm an Earthling, just like you!

Do you believe in aliens?  There's a possibility that there are aliens, since this universe is probably too large for just us, but we've never seen them. Assuming aliens exist, what do you think they look like?  Are they like us?  Or do they have greenish-blue faces?  Or grass for hair?  Or...what?  Comment below and tell us what you think.

Here's an interesting story: we could be aliens!  Yeah, it's true!  There's a theory that life started on Mars.  Then pieces came flying to Earth carrying life forms in them.  Is it true?  I don't know, but we can guess! =D

Our "About Us" Post

I thought that since we like our "about us" gadget so much, we'd rewrite it here for you all to read and enjoy (and laugh about).

It is Unknown:
Hello, My friends. My name is unknown to you all, so you may call me "It is Unknown". Now, doesn't that make sense? At first, my section of the about us gadget stopped at the question mark, and I thought it was nice and purdy. But, oooohhhh, noooooo! Heartsstarssmiles wanted to show off, and write a big, long, fat explanation about her life, so if I want to live up to her, I have to too! I really don't think that's fair, but it's done. It's long. It's longer than heartsstarssmiles. Hah!
92 words in total, while heartsstarssmiles only has 74. HAH, HAH, HAH!

heartsstarssmiles:
Heya, people!  it's heartsstarssmiles!  It Is Unknown and I have been best friends for a really long time!  I have too many interests to tell you, so I'll probably just blog about some of them at times.  I also laugh...a lot.  Just ask anyone!  I laugh at anything that's not sad!  You know why I decided to be "heartsstarssmiles"?  In three words, I'd describe myself as hearts, stars, and smiles!  Enjoy our blog! =D

PS-I did NOT want to show off.  Oh, and it's more than 74 words now.  [We like fake fighting, too, so enjoy our strangeness, creativity, and our acts, cause we have more than just the enemy act! (We also have dumb girl act, conceited act, crazed fan act, etc.)]

It is Unknown is back again. And MAD. Ya'know, heartsstarssmiles? You're low, and ya'know what? Maybe this is not fake. Maybe I'll hate you for eternity, ever thought of that?
Harrumph.

heartsstarssmilesSuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure.  I miss you.  I'm sorry.

It is Unknown: Clearly

heartsstarssmiles: We're fighting over nothing.  Can we be friends again?

It is Unknown: Harrumph.

heartsstarssmiles: Please?  Remember all the good times, since second grade?

It is Unknown: (Begrudgingly) FINE!

A long, long time ago...

From preschool to high school,
To college and past,
We all have changed unbelievably!
When we were young,
We might have been shy,
When we were old,
We were so, strangely bold.
We were once young,
A long, long time ago...

This is a line by line poem. I write one line, then heartsstarssmiles writes the next, then it keeps going on, and on, and on.

heartstarsmiles giggles... a lot....

Until we meet again,

Funny Duet Poems!

Heyheyhey!  Heartsstarssmiles here, again!  Yeah, writing is one of my passions.  Okay, here's the backstory: a couple years ago, a friend and I created "funny duet poems."  They made us laugh so hard (although I laugh at practically everything that's not sad)!  Here's how to play:

Materials:
paper for each player (there can be more than two)
something to write with

How to Play:

1. Each player writes a line on their paper.
2. Fold the paper so you can't see the line.
3. When the players rotate, they tell the next person the last word of the line.
4. Based on that word, the players write a line on their new paper.
5. Continue until the page is full.
6. Read each poem out loud.

This game is so much fun!  Hope you enjoy! =D

                                Fun is fun! (Source: http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.4858399097882395&pid=15.1)

Stay cool,

What am I?

I am
Swift, bold colors,
Streaking across the page.
Strong, brilliant, colors,
Lines speaking their own language.
Detail here,
Blur it there.

All it asks for is emotion.
It can make your heart break.
It can make your spirits lift.
Bringing fear,
Causing care.

What am I?

Addition to "Songwriting"

So, I hear you heard my and heartsstarssmiles fun little hobby... songwriting/singing.
We like to annoy our P.E class with my annoying screechy voice and heartsstarssmiles melodic voice. I'm extra horrible at Christmas carols, so you don't want to be anywhere near me during the Christmas time.

Songs about Santa,
and songs about love.
Songs about togetherness,
and songs about the warmness of  gloves.

The sweet smell of pine
in the winter time.
The sweet smell of ginger,
and molasses and wine.

The chilly air,
The music of the lyre,
The sweet smelling cookies,
fresh baked from the fire.

Sisters!

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!  Heartsstarssmiles here with a new post!  So, how many of you out there have siblings?  Well, It Is Unknown and I both have amazing sisters!  (We kinda consider each other as a sister.)  Hers is older, mine is younger.  But our sisters are both...

  • kind!
  • smart!
  • brave!
  • outside-the-box thinkers!
  • pretty!
  • fashionable!
  • trendy!
  • generous!
  • outgoing!
  • hard workers!
  • amazing!
  • true to themselves!

Yeah, siblings are amazing!  Even if you're an only child, you can count your cousins or close friends as siblings.  They'll really help you in life, and they're just fun to be with! =D

Songwriting!

Heya people!  It Is Unknown and I are songwriters.  We've been doing this for a really long time.  It's so much fun!  I decided to write a poem about it.  Here goes...

Inspiration sparks from everything you see,
Everywhere you go,
You think of a tune,
You think of words,
You smile as you write,
Finishing the song,
Sing it over,
And over,
And over,
Sing it for family,
For friends,
For the world to enjoy,
Starting with imagination!

Songwriting is fun, and so is singing!  Singing songs over, and over, and over!  You'll find us doing that A LOT!!  Good-bye! =D

Until next time,

Dance!

Hey guys!  Heartsstarssmiles here!  So, I wanted to write a poem about something that It Is Unknown and I love: dance!  Dance is a way to express yourself and just have fun!  So, here it is...

Frolicking around the room,
With or without music.
Going with the flow,
Trying out new moves.
Singing a song,
Dancing to the beat of your own drum.

Some are lovers,
Some are haters.
Your opinion matters most.
When the music comes on,
DANCE!!
Dance like your life depends on it.

Walking up the steps,
Props in your hand.
Everyone's cheering,
You are smiling!
The music starts, you start.
You can't stop.

Dancing is a big part of my life!  I can't live without it!  Without dancing, where would the world be today? =D

Lates,
heartsstarssmiles

Happy Holidays!

Hey, it’s the holiday season, so we’d like to dedicate a poem to ya’ll!

In a winter daze,
The sleigh bells rang.
Burning the midnight candle,
We heard a bang.
We went to the chimney,
Covered in coal,
Santa Claus staggered out,
Putting his red phone in his pocket,
And saying, “Ho! Ho! Ho!”
“It’s Santa!” we exclaimed,
Putting down our hot cocoa.
“Yes, children,” he chuckled,
A loud, hearty, laugh.
“I must be swift,
“I must be quick,
“I have thousands of more houses to visit tonight!”
“Many more happy children!” we said, understandingly.
Santa smiled.
He gave us a big, huge sack of gifts,

each tied tightly in twine.
We said, “Santa!
“Santa, wait!”
We gave him some paper and asked,
“Can we have your autograph?”
He smiled kindly, and pulled out a pen.
He took the paper,
Carefully, so it wouldn't rip.
He uncapped his  pen, set the tip upon the paper,
and wrote in a careful, green, flowing, script,
Santa Claus
May your holidays be cheery, whether it be Christmas, or something else!
Fa la la la la la la la la!  Happy Holidays! =D
